For the 2013-14 season, the VEX competition game was called Toss Up, with points scored for placing balls in certain parts of the field. We had 19 girls as part of the troop. We entered 3 robots into each competition during the year. Each team of girls designed their robots with different point-scoring focus, and hence different design and construction.
Rules of the Game
The object of the Toss Up game is to score the most points by moving small BuckyBalls and large balls to different areas of the field, stashing the small balls in plastic tubes attached to the side of the playing field, and balancing large balls on top of those tubes. Robots that can hang in the air on a bar in their corner of the field at the very end of the game will earn extra points; if the robot can hang while holding a large or small ball they earn even more points.
There are a total of 20 BuckyBalls and 8 Large Balls available as Scoring Objects in the game. Most Scoring Objects begin in designated locations on the field, while some are available to be loaded prior to the Match.
