The Space Cookies VEX Robotics Team is an all-girl team sponsored and organized by Girl Scouts of Northern California and NASA Ames Research Center (ARC), at Moffett Field, CA (near Mountain View). This team of 7th-12th grade girls learn to design, build, and program their own robots in a hands-on environment in their lab at ARC, and compete at VEX tournaments throughout the Bay Area.
The Space Cookies organization was started in 2005 as an FRC team; the VEX team was added in 2012 to offer an alternative robotics experience to reach more girls.
Using the VEX platform, we design, build, and program robots to compete with other VEX teams throughout California. The robotics program allows us to explore STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) fields in a supportive all-girl environment. VEX teaches the basic principles of engineering in a fun and educational way and develops foundational skills that can be used in all aspects of our lives now and in the future, including cooperation, teamwork, leadership, respect, responsibility, strategy, and time management.
