Space Cookies VEX Team 1868 is a specialized Girl Scout troop focusing on robotics. We are primarily sponsored by Girl Scouts of Northern California and NASA Ames Research Center (ARC), at Moffett Field, CA. Our troop, made up of 7th-12th grade girls, learns to design, build, and program our own robots in a hands-on environment in their lab at ARC, and compete at VEX tournaments throughout the Bay Area and beyond. We also organize and participate in outreach events, to encourage girls to join the STEAM fields.

The Space Cookies organization was started in 2005 as an FRC team; the VEX team was added in 2012 to offer an alternative robotics experience to offer more opportunities to girls at a younger age.

Being a VEX robotics team as well as a Girl Scout troop gives our girls the opportunity to experience the best of both worlds. Our team is entirely girl led where the girls collaborate, discuss and share ideas and make all of the decisions as a team.

Using the VEX EDR platform allows us to explore STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) fields in a supportive all-girl environment. VEX teaches the basic principles of engineering in a fun and educational way and develops foundational skills that are integral to all aspects of our lives now and in the future, including cooperation, teamwork, leadership, respect, responsibility, strategy, and time management. To learn more about the VEX EDR Platform please visit the official VEX website.
